Description |
One very large Hopi water jar. Polychrome olla made at the First Mesa Village circa 1920. The conventionalized birds and the hook motifs, as well as the broken 'spirit path' lines delineating the decorative band, are typical. All these designs carry symbolic meaning; birds are especially important throughout Pueblo culture because of their association with the rain. |
